Playing career 1987–2014


Zdeněk Orct was born on April 28, 1970 in Liberec. He is a Czech former ice hockey goaltender and currently an ice hockey coach. He is currently the goaltending coach for the HC Litvínov of the Tipsport Extraliga and for the Czech National Team.

Club career[]

Orct made his first junior hockey steps with his hometown hockey organisation Bílí Tygři Liberec, but soon moved to the TJ Litvínov organisation.

Orct made his senior debut in the 1988-89 season playing 10 games with the TJ CHZ Litvínov (formerly TJ Litvínov) of the 1. NHL.

Orct played with the TJ CHZ Litvínov (later HC CHZ Litvínov and even more later HC Chemopetrol Litvínov) until the end of the 2000-01 season. Until the 1992-93 season, Litvínov played in the 1. NHL and since 1993-94 season, it played in the Tipsport Extraliga.

In 2001, Orct signed with the HC Kladno of the Tipsport Extraliga. In his first season with the HC Kladno, Kladno was relegated to the 1. Liga. Orct continued with HC Kladno in the 2002-03 season in the 1. Liga. Kladno won the 1. Liga and was promoted to the Tipsport Extraliga for the next season.

In the 2003-04 season, Orct played 39 games with the HC Kladno of the Tipsport Extraliga. At the end of the season, Orct moved to Russia to finish the season with the Ak Bars Kazan of the Superliga.

For the 2004-05 season, he moved back to the HC Kladno. Orct continued with the HC Kladno of the Tipsport Extraliga as its first goalie until the end of the 2007-08 season.

In the 2008-09 season, Orct played for the HC Kladno of the Tipsport Extraliga and for the HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi of the 1. Liga. He played only 6 regular season games and 1 relegation group game for the HC Kladno and 7 regular season games and 1 play-off game for the HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi this season.

Since the 2009-10 season until his retirment in 2014, Orct played with the HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi of the 1. Liga. In the 2009-10 season, he was also loaned on 2 games for the HC Slavia Praha of the Tipsport Extraliga.

International career[]

Orct was a part of the bronze-winning Czech National Team at the 1993 World Championship, but he did not appear on the ice for a single game.
