Zach Tarkir (born June 28, 1984 in Fresno, California) is an American defenceman, currently playing for the Hannover Indians of the German 2.Bundesliga

Playing career

After being drafted by the New Jersey Devils 167th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Tarkir went on the play four seasons with Northern Michigan University, posting 49 points and 194 penalty minitues in 151 games. He made his professional debut with the Lowell Devils of the AHL, playing 2 games during the remainder of the 2006-07 season. He then played 11 more games in the AHL the following season, before being sent down to the Trenton Devils of the ECHL for the rest of the 2007-08 season. He played the 2008-09 season spilt between two teams, the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL, and the Portland Pirates of the AHL. The next season was split between four teams, the Stingrays, the Lake Erie Monsters, the Springfield Falcons, and the Norfolk Admirals.

He signed a one year contract with Germany's Hannover Indians in June, 2010. The next season Tarkir rejoined the South Carolina Stingrays

In popular culture

Despite being primarily a minor-leaguer, Tarkir has been featured in the video games NHL 09, NHL 10, and NHL 11.
