Yegor Alexeyevich Korshkov (Russian: Егор Алексеевич Коршков; born on July 10, 1996 in Novosibirsk) is a Russian professional ice hockey right winger who is currently playing for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the KHL on loan while under contract to the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. He was selected in the second round, 31st overall, of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs, the highest the Maple Leafs had ever selected the Russian player. Korshkov was scouted out by Evgeny Namestnikov, the same scout who tipped the Leafs off on Nikita Soshnikov a year earlier.[1]

Club career[edit | edit source]

Korshkov made his senior debut during the 2011-12 season playing 32 games with the Barys Astana-2 of the Kazakhstan Hockey Championship.

In the 2012-13 season, Korshkov played with the under-17 team of the Lokomotiv-2004 Yaroslavl.

In the 2013-14 season, he played with the Loko Yaroslavl of the MHL.

Korshkov made his KHL debut playing 24 games with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl during the 2014–15 KHL season.[2] In this season, he also played 23 regular season games and 14 play-off games with the Loko Yaroslavl of the MHL.

In the 2015-16 season, he played 41 regular season games and 4 play-off games with the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL and 4 regular season games and 15 play-off games with the Loko Yaroslavl leading the team with the most assists and points in the play-offs to the Kharlamov Cup.

The 2016-17 was his last junior season, he played 2 games with the Loko Yaroslavl and 36 regular season games and 15 play-off games with the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.

In the 2017-18 season, Korshkov continued with the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL.

In the 2018–19 season, Korshkov recorded 3 goals and 5 points thorough 19 games before collecting 3 assists in 9 playoff games. On May 1, 2019, Korshkov signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL, immediately joining AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, in the midst of their playoff run.[3]

During the 2019–20 season, Korshov continued in the AHL with the Marlies before he was recalled by the Maple Leafs to make his NHL debut, and subsequently scored his first NHL goal on February 16, 2020 in a game against the Buffalo Sabres.

For the beginning of the 2020-21 season, Korshkov was loaned to the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL to play there until the North American season starts.

Korshkov represented Russia at the 2014 World U18 Championship and at the 2016 World Junior Championship where he won the silver medal.
