The Winnipeg Maroons were a Canadian Senior ice hockey team from Winnipeg, Manitoba.

History

The Winnipeg Maroons were a team in Winnipeg, Manitoba that first played in the Central Amateur Hockey League in 1925-26. They then moved to the American Hockey Association for two seasons, 1926-27 and 1927-28, and then folded.

The next Winnipeg Maroons were a senior team that began play in the 1950-51 season. With the exception of the 1956-57 season, they continued play through the 1966-67 season.

From 1954-55 through 1963-64 (again with the exception of 1956-57) they were the only senior team in Manitoba and so automatically won the senior title. They sometimes filled their season with games against teams from other provinces (especially Saskatchewan) and other exhibitions. They competed for fan support against the minor pro Winnipeg Warriors and against a decent junior league.

They still managed to win the Allan Cup in 1963-64. The following season they joined up with the Canadian National Team which had moved to Winnipeg from Vancouver. They did not play for the Allan Cup that season. They returned in 1965-66.

In 1967-68 they became the St. Boniface Mohawks.
