Wally Boyer (born September 27, 1937 in Cowan, Manitoba) is a retired Canadian professional centre.

Career[]

Wally Boyer was known as a creative playmaker and talented penalty killer throughout his NHL career. Boyer recorded 54 goals and 105 assists for 159 points in 365 career NHL games.

He started out in junior hockey with the Toronto Marlboros from 1955-58, winning the Memorial Cup in 1956.

Boyer then played the next seven seasons in the minor pros, winning a Calder Cup in 1964-65 with the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans.

He finally made the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1965-66 then was claimed by the Chicago Blackhawks for 1966-67.

Boyer was claimed by the Oakland Seals in the 1967 NHL Expansion Draft. After one season there he found his way to the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1968-69. Boyer played three full seasons with the team.

After one season with the Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association (1972-73) Boyer retired.
