Vladislav Dmitriyevich Kamenev (Russian: Владислав Дмитриевич Каменев, born on August 12, 1996 in Orsk) is a Russian professional ice hockey center/winger. He is currently playing with the SKA St. Petersburg. Kamenev was selected by the Nashville Predators in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Club career[]
Kamenev played junior hockey with the Metallurg Magnitogorsk organisation.
In the 2012-13 season, he played with the Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk of the MHL.
Kamenev made his KHL debut playing 16 games with Metallurg Magnitogorsk during the 2013–14 KHL season.[1] In this season, he also played 3 regular season games and 1 play-off game with the Yuzhny Ural Orsk of the VHL and 15 regular season games and 5 play-off games with the Stalny Lisy Magnitogorsk of the MHL.
At the conclusion of his first full KHL season in 2014–15 with the Metallurg Magnitogorsk, in which he also became the KHL Rookie of the Month in September 2014, Kamenev opted to pursue his NHL ambitions, in agreeing to a three-year entry-level contract with the Nashville Predators on July 10, 2015.[2]
In the 2015-16 season, Kamenev played with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL. He also played at the 2016 AHL All-Star Game.
In the 2016–17 season, Kamenev made his NHL debut with the Nashville Predators on January 6, 2017, against the Florida Panthers, after being recalled from the Milwaukee Admirals.[3] During an interview, Kamenev recalled to be at the Florida airport just about an hour before the 2017 Fort Lauderdale airport shooting, as he was travelling to reach the team after playing a game in California with the Admirals.[4] He appeared in 2 scoreless games with the Predators before he was returned to play out the remainder of the campaign with the Admirals, collecting 21 goals and 51 points in 70 games.[citation needed]
He was assigned to continue in his third season with the Milwaukee Admirals to start the 2017–18 season. Kamenev increased his scoring pace with 8 points in 10 games with the Admirals before he was dealt by the Predators, alongside Samuel Girard and a 2018 NHL Entry Draft second round pick, in a three-team trade to the Colorado Avalanche, including Matt Duchene and Kyle Turris from the Ottawa Senators on November 5, 2017.[5] With the Avalanche embarking on a Global Series in Sweden, he was to continue in the AHL with affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.[6] He compiled 4 assists in as many games with the Rampage before he was recalled to Colorado on November 14, 2017.[7] On November 16, 2017, Kamenev made his Avalanche debut against the Washington Capitals, centering a line between Sven Andrighetto and Nail Yakupov. During the second period of an eventual 6-2 victory for the Avalanche, Kamenev left the game as a result of a neutral zone check from Capitals veteran defenseman, Brooks Orpik. He was later diagnosed with a broken forearm and placed indefinitely on the injury reserve list.[8] He finished the season with 3 games played with the Avanlanche and 7 games played with the Rampage.
Kamenev recorded his first career NHL goal on November 1, 2018 in a 6–5 loss to the Calgary Flames. Fellow rookie Sheldon Dries also scored his first NHL goal that game, making the pair the first Avalanche rookies to score their first NHL goals in the same game since January 27, 1995.[9] All in all, in the 2018-19 season, Kamenev played 23 games with the Avalanche and 2 games with the Colorado Eagles of the AHL.
In the 2019-20 season, Kamenev played only with the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL.
In 2020, he decided to return to Europe and signed a two-year contract with the SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL.
International career[]
Kamenev represented Russia at the 2013 World U17 Hockey Challenge winning the silver medal, 2013 World Junior A Challenge where he also won the silver medal, 2014 World U18 Championship and at the 2015 and 2016 World Junior Championships winning the silver medal at both tournaments. At the 2016 tournament, he also was named one of the top 3 players on the Russian team.
