1955-56 program
History[]
The Vernon Canadians played in the Okanagan Mainline League and the Okanagan Senior League thoroughout their combined what appears to be about a 15 year history. The team was based out of the Vernon Civic Arena in Vernon, British Columbia which opened in 1938.
Vernon previously had provincial intermediate champions in 1928, 1929, 1930, 1934, 1935 and 1943. The 1943 champion was the Vernon Military All Stars. It is unclear if the earlier winners were the same team which appears to have started out in the North Okanagan League which started play in 1922-23 and played until 1940-41 when it stopped play due to World War II.
1956 Allan Cup[]

They won the Allan Cup in 1956 and would have gone on to the World Championship in 1957. Unfortunately, they were being held in Moscow. The western nations boycotted them in protest over the Soviet Union's invasion of Hungary in 1956. For more detail on the Allan Cup run see 1955-56 Allan Cup Final.
They lost the Allan Cup final to the Whitby Dunlops in 1959.
Vernon and all the other teams in the Okanagan Senior League folded in 1961.
