Vanessa Welten is a womens ice hockey player for the Brown Bears.

Playing career

Welten was a two sport athlete at the Ecole Secondaire Catholique de Casselman in Ontario, Canada. As a student there, Welten won three varsity letters in hockey and two in soccer. In 2009 and 2010, she was the team captain at ESCC. During her high school career, she guided ESCC to six consecutive ODWHA League Championships. She was recognized as the ESCC Academic Athlete of the Year each season from 2007-10.[1]In addition to high school hockey, Welten participated with the Nepean Junior Wildcats.

Hockey Canada

Welten appeared in the gold medal game of the 2009 Canadian Under 18 Nationals with Team Ontario Blue. Despite scoring a goal, Team Ontario Blue claimed the silver medal in a 5-1 loss to Team Ontario Red. [2]

Her sister, Cassandra, plays hockey at Western University.[3]
