− | There is a synthetic ice sheet in Tashkent. There used to be a regular ice rink in Tashkent but it has closed and the building is abandoned. Tashkent Binokor played in the Soviet League from 1970-1988.Some notable players who were born in Uzbekistan are Yuri Gunko who was drafted in the 10th round 230th overall in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft and Dimitri Riabykin who was drafted in the 2nd round 45th overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. Nikita Zakharov and Sergei Antipov play in Russia. Andreas Klundt was also born there.In 1986 the Uzbek national team played a game against Latvia losing 5-2. The population of the country is over 27,000,000. Its capital and largest city is Tashkent.
