Hi everyone! My name is Devan and I am the founder of this Wiki. I am a 30-year-old electrical apprentice from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I am originally from a small town called Durham, Ontario. I have been married seven years and have a daughter and two sons. We tour around watching University, Jr. B and C, and Women's Jr. hockey on a regular basis. I enjoy sports photography, scotch, and reading. I am an avid music listener, mostly Nine Inch Nails, Machine Head, Metallica, Sevendust, Deftones, and various 70's rock bands. I also fish and hunt whenever I can.
I was a goalie in hockey and played my minor with the Durham MHA (WOAA), Grey Bruce Highlanders (SCTA), Saugeen City Platers (Summer AAA) as well as a variety of prospect teams. As a junior player I played games for the Durham Huskies (OPJHL), Mount Forest Patriots (WOJCHL), Walkerton Hawks (WOJCHL), and Alliston Hornets (GMOHL), before quitting Jr. hockey at the age of 18 to go to university. When I was 16 I played in the OPJHL prospect's game, putting together a shutout.
I briefly played football as a nose guard, 2 seasons with the JDSS Trojans of Hanover, ON, and two seasons of practice squad with the U of Windsor Lancers. I no longer play or watch the sport. I don't feel my heart was really in it.
My other love is box lacrosse. I played my minor lacrosse in Williamsford, ON and Owen Sound, ON. Before the invent of Jr. C lacrosse, I was the starting goalie for the Owen Sound Intermediates for the better part of five seasons, dramatically winning two zone championships in my final two seasons. I played a handful of games with the Jr. B Owen Sound Flying Dutchmen. When I moved south to go to university, I joined the upstart Windsor Jr. B Fratmen for my final year of junior eligibility (2004). In 8 regular season starts, I had a 3-4 record and a 8.10 goals against average. In the playoffs, I played three games against the second best team in Canada that year (Elora) and despite being swept maintained a 10.33 GAA. I was later awarded the team's Unsung Hero Award. I cherish these final three years very much. After a four year "retirement" I came back to play masters lacrosse in Windsor. After my team won the town league, the league disbanded. Despite regular practising, it would be three years before my next game. In 2012, I was invited to play with the Essex County Thunder of the Ontario Masters Lacrosse League. I played two seasons before a knee injury sidelined me. In this time, I received a call-up to play as the starter for the Detroit Coney Dogs of the semi-pro Continental Indoor Lacrosse League. Despite losing all three of my starts, including two against the defending league champions, I had a blast and got to play in front of my parents, my wife, and two of my young children.
