This is a list of U Sport women's ice hockey championship finals. The organizing body was renamed from Canadian Interuniversity Sport to U Sport during the 2016-17 season and was previously known as Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union from 1978 to 2001 and prior to that as the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union from 1961 to 1978 . The champions are awarded the Golden Path Trophy. This was the first truly nationwide championship for women's ice hockey at the university level. Previous to 1997-98 the only thing resembling a national championship was the Ontario University Athletics women's ice hockey championship which was the only league that had teams that were sanctioned by U Sport. With the expansion of women's ice hockey in the late 1990's Atlantic University Sport and Canada West Universities Athletic Association formed women's conferences, and along with the formation of the Ligue de Hockey Universitaire Féminin (which covered top level teams in Quebec and the Ottawa area) a true national championship event was then created.
