The TEHL is a new six-team Florida-based junior hockey league that will be operating as part of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) for the 2012-13 season. The 6 teams are as follows:

Daytona Beach Blaze

Kissimmee Vipers

Oldsmar (Tampa Bay) Tide

Palm Beach (called Florida) Coyotes

Pompano Beach Prowlers

St Cloud Thunder

This League doesn't have a website, other than at facebook As of October 8, 2012 the league has a website which is  As of July 2, 2013 the leagues website and facebook pages are down.

The coach of the St. Cloud Thunder posted on the teams facebook page in early September the following: "The TEHL is no more, but Coach Chic is seriously considering forming his own team for the 2012-13 season."

According to the Weekly Sports League and Franchise report dated October 8, 2012 on

Tropical Elite Hockey League: The Florida-based TEHL, which was a proposed junior hockey league affiliated with the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union), has fallen apart before playing any games. Some teams once affiliated with the league might end up playing independent schedules in 2012-13.

Currently we have four teams that are Independent and two that have expressed committment for next season.

TOHO VIPERS are preparing to play an Independent season as they are going to be playing on the revamped ice surface of the Ice Factory of Central Florida! Contact Chad Wilcox for more information.

MIAMI SEA DEVILS are still planning to play Independent at the Kendall Ice Arena and anyone interested will need to contact Alex Avduhin.

POMPANO PROWLERS are playing Independent this season as well. Any interested players should contact them at

DAYTONA BEACH BLAZE are playing an independent schedule.

TAMPA BAY TIDE will be dormant this season and preparing to re-enter next season!

ST. CLOUD THUNDER are also planning a return next season!

FLORIDA PHARAOHS is dormant and looking to return in full strength for the 2013-2014 season.

Florida Coyotes have not responded as yet.
