The Traverse City North Stars were a Tier II Junior A ice hockey team in the North American Hockey League's North Division, and played out of 1,500-seat Centre ICE Arena in Traverse City, Michigan, recently re-branded Hockeytown North via a branding relationship with the Detroit Red Wings who use the arena as their pre-season practice facility.

The team relocated to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and were renamed the Soo Eagles for the 2012-13 season.  That team would join the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League for the 2015-16 season and the NAHL franchise rights would go to Middletown, New Jersey as the New Jersey Junior Titans.

On July 8th 2016; the Traverse City Hounds of the United States Premier 3 Hockey League adopted the North Stars moniker for the 2016-17 season.  Both of the teams have had Scott Gardiner as an owner and he stated that "rebranding the Hounds was an obvious move"
