The Tin Cup Series was a single elimination knock out tournament held between the top four teams of the St. John's Senior Hockey League.  The series was started in 1921 and lasted until 1960.  The event was dominated by the St. Bon's team who won the championship 25 times.  At least five different versions of the award was used as the trophies were retired after one team won it three times.  All five were retired when St. Bon's won each of the trophies for the third time in 1925, 1930, 1933, 1938, and 1945 respectively. The 1937 event may have been cancelled due to artificial ice being installed at the Prince's Rink during that year.  The event was not held in 1942 or 1943.  The event was likely cancelled due to the arena burning down in 1941 and the fact that World War II was going on at the time.
