Terry Ryan (born January 19, 1977 in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador) was a Canadian professional player, principally for the Montreal Canadiens. He played left wing.

Playing career[]

Terry Ryan was selected 8th overall, in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. He was selected as the 1st choice of the Montreal Canadiens. He played junior hockey for the Tri City Americans and the Red Deer Rebels of the Western League.

Despite his high ranking, Ryan played only 8 games for the in the NHL over parts of three seasons, all spent with Montreal, failing to register a single point. Due to such a short NHL career, Ryan is often considered a draft bust. The majority of his career was spent in the minor professional hockey leagues. He was later dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs who never called him up from their farm team: the St. John's Maple Leafs.

He retired in 2003.
