Steve Pinizzotto (born April 26, 1984) is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger/centre signed with the Vancouver Canucks in 2011 for a 1-year deal on a 2-way contract for $600,000 and was resigned again with the Canucks on July 2, 2012. He was previously signed by the Washington Capitals organization to a two-year entry level contract as a free agent on March 16, 2007 and resigned by the Capitals in 2009.
Pinizzotto captured his first Calder Cup Championship with the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2009-10 and recaptured it again in the 2010-11 Season earning 42 points in 68 games with 17 goals, 25 assists and 178 penalty minutes. He was a fan favourite and key contributor with 83 points over the 2 years.
Prior to signing with the Washington Capitals NHL Pinizzotto was the first RIT Tiger to sign an NHL contract. He was in his sophomore year and recorded 22 goals, 40 assists for 62 points in 58 career games with RIT NCAA Div 1 He was named the third all-time player among Division 1 players helping RIT capture the Atlantic Hockey Championship in the 2006-07 Season. He had 8 power play goals and a team-leading 76 penalty minutes.
Steve Pinizzotto is Canadian born with roots in Germany. He holds both a Canadian and German Passport; for German citizenship. His maternal grandparents on his mothers side were born there.
