
Steve "Boomer" Hawrysh Memorial Award is awarded annually to the player judged to be the Most Valuable Player in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
Steve Hawrysh reached a milestone in 1992, 60 consecutive years of hockey involvement in Dauphin. As a player, He was a member of the powerhouse intermediate Kings of the early 50's. He began coaching in 1952, and in '72 guided the junior Kings to a Turnbull Cup championship. He was one of the architects of the new Manitoba Junior Hockey League (1968), and instrumental in bringing Junior A hockey to Dauphin.
Past winners include Grant Ledyard, Mike Ridley and Brian Engblom.
