State Armory (Tacoma WA)

The State Armory is an indoor arena located in Tacoma, Washington.  The building was used by the Tacoma Rockets (WHL) of the Western Hockey League (pro) as a back up venue when the Tacoma Ice Palace was not available.  The building opened in 1908.

Based on the age of the building it may have been the temporary home for the Tacoma Tigers of the Pacific Coast Hockey League in the 1930-31 season while they were waiting on the building of a new arena, which would eventually become the Tacoma Ice Palace.  Due to the Great Depression the team was unable to secure funding for the arena in a timely manner and were folded by the league on January 1, 1931 due to lack of an adequate arena.
