The St. James Hockey Club operated a Canadian Junior "A" ice hockey team from St. James, Manitoba.
They were members of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for 15 seasons, from 1936 to 1951.
History[]
In 1936, the Woodhaven Leafs were restructured and became the St. James Canadians.
For the 1945-46 season, the Team joined forces with Stan Evans Orioles, becoming the St. James Orioles.
After spending the 1945-46 season in a joint venture, the Canadians were flying solo once again for 1946-47. In December, the club became affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League and adopted the french spelling of "Canadiens". Before the New Year bell struck, the Team was renamed the Winnipeg Canadiens.
In 1951, the team was sold and relocated to St. Boniface, becoming the St. Boniface Canadiens.
