Spokane Spokes

The Spokane Spokes were a minor professional team in Spokane, Washington in the Western Hockey League (WHL).

When an expansion franchise was awarded to Spokane in 1958, the team kept the name Flyers which was the name of the team in the Western International Hockey League. After one season the WHL insisted on a new name for the team since the Edmonton Flyers already owned the league rights to the name. A fan contest came up with the Spokes.

They played in the Western Hockey League in 1959-60. They were then renamed the Spokane Comets.
