Socialist Republic of Croatia (often abbreviated SR Croatia; Serbo-Croatian, Croatian: Socijalistička Republika Hrvatska, SR Hrvatska) was a socialist state and a sovereign constituent country of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It is the predecessor of the modern-day Republic of Croatia. It became part of the Democratic Federal Yugoslavia in 1943 In 1990, the state was reformed as Croatia adopted a multi-party system and free market economy.
