Overview[edit | edit source]

The "Clan" is the name of the sports teams from Simon Fraser University (SFU), located in Burnaby, British Columbia. They are sometimes referred to as the "Clown" by their detractors. SFU is in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) and have been since its inception in 2005-06.

In other sports SFU is a former member of the Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA) from 2002 to 2009, however they never participated in the men's or women's hockey leagues. After struggling for 8 years in the CIS they now participate in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, a 2nd tier conference in the NCAA.
