Sidney Patrick Crosby (b. August 7, 1987 in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada) is a professional centre who plays in the National Hockey League for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was the first pick overall of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. One of the highest regarded draft pick in modern hockey, the possibility of drafting him led many to refer to the 2005 Entry Draft as the Sidney Crosby Lottery.

Crosby was the leading scorer of the Penguins for the 2005-06 NHL Season with 102 points, just behind Alexander Ovechkin becoming only the seventh player to score 100 points or more in his rookie season, breaking the records Mario Lemieux established when he entered the league.

The following season, Crosby made his first appearance at the NHL All-Stars Game. He led the whole league in scoring and became the youngest player to reach the 200 career points. He also became the youngest player to be named captain when the Penguins granted him the title following the 2006-07.
