The Shmyr Flyers were a men's senior/intermediate team that was established in the mid-1960's. The team played only road games and did not have a true home. The team won the 1972 Coy Cup as British Columbia Intermediate champions. The team was established by Tony Shmyr. The team included at one point five of his brothers on the team (Romie, Mike, Peter, John, and Paul). The team featured over the years former National Hockey League and Western Hcokey League players such as Barry Wilcox, Jack Michie, Bobby Schmautz, Alton White, Bud Gulka, Gerry Sillers, Paul Shmyr and John Shmyr. The team would stay in existence until the mid-1970's
The team would also play in the Western Amateur Hockey League for at least the 1970-71 and 1971-72 seasons as well as Fraser Valley Hockey League for at least the 1973-74 season.
