Shelby Wignall is a women’s ice hockey player from Hamilton, Ontario that competed for the Quinnipiac Bobcats.

Playing career[]

From the ages of 11 to 14, she competed in boys hockey with the Hamilton AA Reps.

Wignall competed for the Stoney Creek Jr. Sabres of the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL). In 2008-09, the Jr. Sabres won 51 games, compared to 19 losses and 5 ties. Wignall would win a PWHL bronze medal in 2009 with the squad. She won the PWHL Bronze Medal during the 2009-10 season, as Stoney Creek accumulated a 49-21-6 won-loss record. In addition, Wignall was the assistant captain. With Stoney Creek, she was part of the 2008-09 and 2009-10 Union College Fall Festival Tournament Championship teams.

Hockey Canada[]

Shelby Wignall appeared in the gold medal game of the 2009 Canadian Under 18 Nationals with Team Ontario Blue. Despite logging an assist, Team Ontario Blue claimed the silver medal in a 5-1 loss to Team Ontario Red. [1]

NCAA[]

Wignall was part of the freshman class of 2010 for Quinnipiac. She competed in 36 games, while accumulating six assists. Her first career point came in her first NCAA game in a 3-0 win versus Niagara on October 1. In the championship game of the 2010 Nutmeg Classic, she assisted on the game-winning goal against Yale.[2]
