Sean McIndoe

Sean McIndoe (b. November 3, 1975) is a Canadian sportswriter, also known by his screen name Down Goes Brown, named after Joe Bowen's call in a 1992 Sylvain Lefebvre-Rob Brown fight.

McIndoe was born in Australia and lived in California until he was five, and upon settling in Ontario became a hockey fan, supporting the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a webmaster in Ottawa when in 2008 created his blog, Down Goes Brown, first centered only on the Leafs but eventually offering a humorous look at the entire NHL. His works would eventually be published on The National Post before he was hired by Grantland. Upon the site's closure in 2015, McIndoe started spreading his texts on various websites, including ESPN, Sportsnet and Vice Sports. In 2019, McIndoe joined The Athletic, where he continues to date. McIndoe is also a co-host of the podcast Puck Soup.

McIndoe is married and has two children.

Hall of Very Good[]

Inspired by a common criticism of the Hockey Hall of Fame, where dissers would say undeserving inductees were better off in a "Hall of Very Good", in 2022 McIndoe decided to start a column about that, quality players with little chance of entering the Hall.
