The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds were a men's senior team from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario that played during the 1940's and 1950's. The team was briefly resurected in the early 1940's forced to go into hiatus during World War II when the Gouin Street Arena was commanderred for military use. When the team resumed play it played out of near by Pullar Stadium in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan until the Sault Memorial Gardens opened in 1949.
Second Senior Team[]
The senior Greyhounds team was revived in 1948. The new team played out of a temporary home at Pullar Stadium until the Memorial Gardens opened in 1949. The senior Greyhounds won the NOHA championship four times in 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1955. This team folded, along with the league after the 1958–59 season. The name was briefly revived in the United States Hockey League (1961-1979) when the Sault Ste. Marie Canadians were renamed the Greyhounds for the 1972-73 season. They would fold after the 1972-73 season.
