This article is about the original junior team that played from the early 1920's until 1945, for the contemporary team please see Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds were a junior hockey team from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The team played out of the Gouin Street Arena during their whole existence.
Original Junior Team[]
The senior Greyhounds folded in 1927, and were replaced the following season by a junior team of the same name, competing in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League. The juniors won the league championship four consecutive years from 1928 to 1931, and another Sault Ste. Marie team won a fifth title in 1942 at the Junior B level. Junior hockey in Sault Ste. Marie came to an abrupt end in 1945 when the Gouin Street Arena was commandeered as a military barracks. The arena would later be destroyed by fire on July 3, 1965.[1]

- 1937-38 Team may not have been the Greyhounds as the team was not identified by a nickname and for 1939-40 at team called the Sault Ste Marie Legion participated in the Northern Ontario Junior Playoffs.
