During World War II, many military teams entered teams in the Canadian senior and junior hockey leagues. The naval detachment at Saskatoon (known as HMCS Unicorn) entered a team in the Saskatchewan Senior League in 1943-44.

They finshed first but lost the league final to the Flin Flon Bombers. Due to a ruling from teh Canadian government during the season, military teams were not eligible for the Allan Cup that season in any case.
