Sam Poyton is a former Canadian womens ice hockey player that competed for the Wayne State Warriors.
Playing career[]
She joined the Wayne State Warriors in the autumn of 2005, and finished her freshman campaign tied for the CHA league scoring title with two players (including fellow Wayne State rookie: Melissa Boal). Each had 19 points in 12 CHA contests. During the 2007–08 season, Wayne State had the top four scorers in the nation in terms of points per game. Sam Poyton would rank second with 1.94 points per game. She would set an NCAA record (since tied) for most game winning goals in one season with 13.[1] Her contributions helped the Warriors finish 10th in the national polls at the end of the 2007–08 season.
