The Sacred Heart Pioneers are a Men's Division I team in Atlantic Hockey, and a Women's Division I Independent.
On January 25, 2020 the university announced that it would be constructing a 4,000 seat $60 million arena which will be located on the West Campus of the school. It is expected to be ready for the start of the 2022-23 playing season. The arena will be home to both the men's and women's varsity teams as well as the men's club team.[1]

The school announced on September 19, 2016 that the school had reached a five year agreement to move its home games to the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
