Russ Walker

Russ Walker (born May 24, 1953 in Red Deer, Alberta) is a retired ice hockey right winger. He played 3 seasons in the WHA for the Cleveland Crusaders and 17 games in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings.

He played Tier II Junior "A" for the Red Deer Rustlers and the Lethbridge Sugar Kings and major junior with the Saskatoon Blades all from 1969 to 1973. The Los Angeles Kings chose him 38th overall in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft while the Cleveland Crusaders picked him 49th overall in the 1973 WHA Amateur Draft.

Walker opted for the Crusaders and turned pro with them in 1973-74. In three seasons he scored 53 goals. The Crusaders traded him to the Cincinnati Stingers in 1976 and Walker chose not to report but to jump to the National Hockey League.

In 1976-77 Walker played mostly for the Fort Worth Texans and had a short stay with the Kings. He then played two seasons for the Springfield Indians and retired in 1979.

In the NHL he played in 17 games and scored 1 goal. In the WHA he played in 214 games and scored 52 goals and 40 assists.
