Playing career 2003–present


Rudolf Červený was born on August 6, 1989 in České Budějovice. He is a Czech ice hockey winger/center currently playing with the Pelicans of the Liiga.

Club career[]

Červený began his junior career with the HC České Budějovice organisation. Červený made his senior debut during the 2006-07 season when he played 4 games with the HC České Budějovice of the Tipsport Extraliga while he also played 41 games with the HC České Budějovice under-20 team.

In 2007, Červený moved to North America to play with the Regina Pats of the WHL for two seasons.

In 2009, Červený returned to Europe to play there his last junior season. He played 8 games with the HC České Budějovice junior team, 14 games with the HC České Budějovice of the Tipsport Extraliga and 33 regular season games plus another 5 games in the play-offs with the HC Tábor of the 1. Liga.

In the 2010-11 season, Červený played 34 regular season games and 6 play-off games with the HC České Budějovice of the Tipsport Extraliga, 9 games on loan with the HC Tábor of the 1. Liga and 5 regular season games and 6 1. Liga qualification games with the IHC Písek of the 1. Liga.

In the 2011-12 season, he played 52 regular season games and 5 play-off games with the HC České Budějovice of the Tipsport Extraliga and one game on loan with the IHC Písek of the 1. Liga.

In the next season, Červený played 33 regular season games and 5 play-off games with the HC České Budějovice of the Tipsport Extraliga and also 11 games on loan with the BK Mladá Boleslav of the 1. Liga.

In 2013, the Tipsport Extraliga license and all players of the HC České Budějovice were moved to the HK Hradec Králové. Červený stayed with the HK Hradec Králové until the end of the 2017-18 season.

In the 2018-19 season, Červený tried his luck in the KHL. He signed with the HC Slovan Bratislava. He played there 57 games and then the contract was terminated and Červený signed for the remainder of the season with the Brynäs IF of the SHL. He finished there the season with 11 games played.

For the 2019-20 season, Červený moved back to Czechia and signed again with the HK Hradec Králové of the Tipsport Extraliga. At the end of the season, after 30 games played, he was sold to the HC Kometa Brno of the Tipsport Extraliga. He finished there the season with 6 games played.

In 2020, Červený signed a one-year contract with the Pelicans of the Liiga.

International career[]

Červený participated at the 2007 World U18 Championship and at the 2009 World Junior Championship as a member of the Czech National Team.
