Howard Joseph "Rip" Riopelle (born January 30, 1922 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey forward who played 169 games in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens.
He played junior and senior hockey in Ottawa with the Ottawa Lasalle and the Ottawa St Patricks teams from 1937 to 1942. Riopelle then joined the Canadian military for World War II. He played for the Toronto RCAF Flyers and Arnprior RCAF teams.
After the war he joined the Montreal Royals and won the Allan Cup in 1947. The Montreal Canadiens then brought him up for three seasons. He scored 27 goals and 16 assists in 169 games. A back injury kept him out of the 1950-51 season.
The Canadiens sold his rights to the Ottawa Senators in 1951 and he played for three and a half seasons until the team folded in 1954-55. He then retired.
