History[]
The Rideau Group was a senior hockey league under the Ottawa District Hockey Association. It ran in the 1920's and 1930's. The league operated to the south and southwest of Ottawa in the Rideau River Valley.
In 1935 the league changed its name to the Lanark Senior League.
After the Perth Crescents and Almonte Red Shirts dropped out in 1936, Smiths Falls and Carleton Place joined the Upper Ottawa Valley League for the 1936-37 season.
In 1936-37, it operated as an independent competition. The league was then revived after World War II.
