Rick LaFerriere was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario on January 3, 1961. He is a former Canadian professional goaltender.
LaFerriere was a junior standout for the OHA's Peterborough Petes and Brantford Alexanders. In 1978-79 he was the back up when the Petes won the Memorial Cup. The next season he led the league with a 3.27 goals against mark and won the Hap Emms Memorial Trophy. He also played at the World Junior Championships.
The Colorado Rockies chose LaFerriere 64th overall in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft then returned him for one last year of junior. During the 1981-82 season he suited up in junior, the minors and played one period for Colorado. After his brief NHL tenure Laferriere returned to the minors and played most of the next two years in the International Hockey League before retiring in 1984.
