The Reno Events Center is a 7,000-seat multi-purpose arena, located in downtown Reno, Nevada, that was constructed in 2005.
It is currently home to the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Development League and was the home to the Reno Barons of the Western Indoor Football Association during their short lived 2011 season.
Along with being a basketball and indoor football venue, it has hosted concerts by a wide range of artists.
In 2012 and 2013, the Events Center hosted the NBA D-League Showcase, featuring all of the NBA Development League's teams over a four-day period in early January.
It has also hosted tour stops on the PBR's Built Ford Tough Series.
Starting in 2016, the arena will host the Big Sky men's and women's basketball tournament.
The facility was believed to be a leading candidate for an American Hockey League that will be the affiliate of the Las Vegas NHL team that is scheduled to start play with the 2017-18 season. The NHL has announced that it will split an affiliation with another NHL team on an AHL team for the 2017-18 season.
On December 15, 2016 the Reno City Council approved a ten year deal to bring minor league hockey (ECHL) to the arena and turn over management of the facility to the Reno Puck Club. The Puck Club would take over management of the facility in July 2017 and pay for cost of renovations, totaling about $5.6 million. Almost $2.9 million would be spent on locker rooms, $2.4 million for an ice rink and about $100,000 for elevators. Once completed, the events center would have an estimated 4,786 on-ice seats and 246 suite-level seats for hockey. During non-ice events, the amount of seating would revert to about 6,500. The team would start play in the fall of 2018. The team would be a member of the ECHL pending league approval.
