The Regina River Rats are a Junior C level team from Regina, Saskatchewan. The play in the Qu'Appelle Valley Junior C Hockey League. The team was founded in 2014 as a member of the now defunct Regina Junior C Hockey League. The team is based out of the Doug Wickenheiser Arena. The team was re-formed when both the Regina Brewers and Regina Bulldogs folded leaving no Regina based teams in the RJCHL (two additional Regina based teams had folded between 2011 and 2014). After the 2014-15 season the Hockey Regina stopped sponsoring the league and the management of the senior level Qu'Appelle Valley Hockey League stepped forward and organized the new league as there was no other Junior C level leagues in the province of Saskatchewan.
The River Rats had played some of their home games at the Regina Exhibition Stadium up unitl the 2016-17 season when the historic arena was closed and demolished in January of 2017.
A previous version of the team played in the league during the 2009-10 season. The team was gone from the league by the 2010-11 season. Also of note; the league had five teams from the city of Regina for the 2009-10 season. The other four teams would fold by the time the River Rats returned to play for the 2014-15 season
