Reginald Stewart Abbott
an all-round athlete who played second base for the provincial champion Rosedales, a near scratch golfer and fine lacrosse player who decided to concentrate on hockey during his late teens. ... started playing hockey as a kid with Clifton Playground, then advanced to the West End Orioles for two years of midget. ... joined the Brandon Wheat Kings in the MJHL for two seasons. ... the Wheat Kings won the league championship both years, and went to the Memorial Cup final in 1949. ... captured the scoring title in 1950. ... played four pro seasons, which included a PCHL championship with Victoria Cougars. ... his big league chance came when the Habs Elmer Lach was injured and coach Dick Irvin called him up for a three game trial--December 4, 6, 7, 1952. ... played on a line with Bernie Georrfion and Paul Meger. ... went on to play senior for nine seasons with the Windsor Bulldogs and then the Winnipeg Maroons. ... with the Maroons, went to the Allan Cup final twice. ... in 1964, suffered a season ending injury during Europe tour. ... the Maroons would go on to win the Allan Cup. ... his final season was 1965 with the Canada's National Team. ... played in the World Championship in Tampere, Finland.
