Queen Victoria by Bassano

Queen Victoria was the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 1837 to 1901. She was the first monarch to reign over the Dominion of Canada. Many cities, teams, and arenas were named in her honour across Canada.

According to personal writings of Lord Stanley of Preston, she played goaltender at an ice hockey game organized by his son Arthur, and was played on the frozen over reflecting pond at Buckingham Palace during a cold stretch in 1895. In the journal he recorded the final score as 0-0 which was proper and as it should be.
