The Providence Capitals are a youth/junior hockey organization based in the state of Rhode Island.  The organization has been known by this name since at least 2003.  Prior to this the organization was know as the Providence Junior Friars. The organization was part of the Metropolitan Boston Hockey League until joining the Eastern Hockey Federation in 2004  The organization later joined the United States Premier Hockey League in 2014. The team also operates an Under 16 team in the USPHL U-16 league.  The team withdrew from the USPHL after the 2015-16 season.

Return to Junior Hockey[]

The organization appears as if it returned to Tier-III junior hockey in 2023 as the Providence Hockey Club with an October 2022 announcement. The team would play one season in the Eastern Hockey League (Junior) under that name in 2023-24. The team would revert to the Providence Capitals moniker for the 2024-25 season.
