Philip Kemp (born February 12, 1999) is an American professional ice hockey player for the Bakersfield Condors in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He attended the Yale University where he played college hockey and served as its captain in the 2019–20 season.[1][2] Kemp was drafted by the Oilers in the seventh round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, 208th overall.

Playing career[]

On November 25, 2020, Kemp signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Oilers and was assigned to Väsby IK of the HockeyAllsvenskan.[3][4] On March 27, 2021, following the conclusion of Väsby's season, Kemp and fellow Oilers prospect, Raphaël Lavoie, were both assigned to the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League (AHL).[5]

After playing in the AHL for the Condors for three seasons, he was re-signed by the team in May 2023 to a two-year, two-way contract.[6] He played his first NHL game on January 13, 2024, against the Montreal Canadiens.[7]
