The Philadelphia Thunder were a junior "A" ice hockey team that play in the Northern Junior Hockey League. The team plays their home games at The Rink Ice Arena in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.

The Thunder are affiliated with the West Michigan Blizzard of the All American Hockey League (higher affiliate).

Team History[]

The team was formed in 2006 as a member of the America East Hockey League (AEHL) from 2006 until 2008 as the Delaware Thunder. After the 2007-2008 season in the AEHL the team announced a move to the Philadelphia Metro Area and to the new United Junior Hockey League. The team joined 5 other teams, 3 from the AEHL, for the first season UJHL in Fall 2008.

On February 12, 2010 the Thunder announced that they have joined the International Junior Hockey League (IJHL) for the 2010-11 season. They will play in the Super Elite, Mid-Atlantic Division, with teams compiled from the NY, NJ and New England regions.
