The Jamestown Rebels are an American junior hockey team based in Sewell, New Jersey . The team is based out of the Hollydell Ice Arena.
The team was based out of the Penn Ice Rink at the Class of 1923 Arena on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the 2017-18 season and prior to that Aston Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The had team relocated from Hidalgo, Texas in 2015 where they were known as the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees where they played for two seasons. Prior to this they were based out of Wenatchee, Washington where they were known as the Wenatchee Wild. The franchise relocated to Hidalgo after unsuccessfully attempting to join the British Columbia Hockey League in 2013.
The team was sold to interests in Pennsylvania after failed attempts to sell the team to someone who would keep the team in Hidalgo. The Killer Bees were official out of existence on June 8, 2015 after an extension of two days failed to produce a sale in Texas.
On July 24, 2017 the team announced that they were relocating to the Penn Ice Rink at the Class of 1923 Arena on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania and would be renamed the Philadelphia Rebels.
On June 13, 2018 the franchise was relocated to Jamestown, New York where they began play in the Northwest Arena as the Jamestown Rebels.
On May 17, 2022 the franchise announced that it had been sold and would be relocated to the Hollydell Ice Arena in Sewell, New Jersey for the 2022-23 season. The name will revert to the Philadelphia Rebels moniker.[1]
