Petr Straka (born on June 15, 1992 in Plzeň) is a Czech professional ice hockey right/left winger currently playing for the HC Plzeň of the Tipsport Extraliga. He was selected 55th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by Columbus Blue Jackets.

Club career[]

Straka began his junior career with HC Plzeň. In 2009, Straka moved to North America to play with Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL for three seasons. In 2012, Straka moved to play one more season in the QMJHL with Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

After the 2012-13 season, Straka became a free agent and on April 11, 2013, was signed to a three-year entry-level contract by the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL.[1] Straka then played the 2013-14 season with Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL. In the 2014–15 season, Straka was recalled from the new AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and made his NHL debut on January 27, 2015. He appeared in 3 games with the Flyers, recording 2 assists.[2] In the next season, Straka played only for the Phatnoms.

On November 12, 2016, Straka was traded by the Flyers to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick.[3] Straka played the 2016-17 season with the Albany Devils of the AHL.

After the 2016-17 season, Straka moved back to Europe. Straka signed with his hometown team HC Plzeň of the Tipsport Extraliga. At the end of the 2017-18 season, Straka was loaned by Plzeň to the HC Dukla Jihlava of the Tipsport Extraliga. After the end of this season, Straka moved back to Plzeň.

Since the 2018-19 season, Straka is playing only for HC Plzeň.

International career[]

Straka played for the Czech Republic at the 2009 World U18 Championship and at the 2011 and 2012 World Junior Championships.
