Peter Cehlárik (born on August 2, 1995 in Žilina) is a Slovak professional ice hockey left/right winger currently playing with the Leksands IF of the SHL. He was selected by the Boston Bruins in the 3rd round (90th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Club career[]

Cehlárik played three junior seasons with the MsHK Žilina organisation. He also began there the 2011-12 season, but after 6 games played with the MsHK Žilina under-18 team, he decided to continue his development with the Luleå HF organisation.

He made his Elitserien debut playing 8 regular season games and 6 play-off games with Luleå HF during the 2012-13 Elitserien season. In this season, he also played 10 games with the Luleå HF under-18 team and 38 regular season games and 3 play-off games with the Luleå HF under-20 team. In this season, he became the U18 junior who scored most points (6) in the Elitserien.

In the 2013-14 season, he played 4 games with the Luleå HF under-20 team, 32 regular season games and 2 play-off games with the Luleå HF of the SHL (formerly Elitserien) and 18 games on loan with the Asplöven HC of the HockeyAllsvenskan.

In the 2014-15 season, he played 1 game with the Luleå HF under-20 team and 46 regular season games and 8 play-off games with the Luleå HF of the SHL. He helped the team win the Champions Hockey League during this season. He also became the junior who recorded most assists (13) in the SHL in this season.

After playing 132 games adding 22 goals and 49 points over a span of four seasons with Luleå, he signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins organisation on June 16, 2016.[1] He made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins on February 11, 2017 against the Vancouver Canucks.[2] He played 11 games for Boston Bruins before returning to the Providence Bruins of the AHL[3] where he played 49 regular season games and 2 play-off games in the 2016-17 season.

Cehlárik scored his first NHL goal on November 18, 2017 with the Bruins as the first Boston goal in a road game against the San Jose Sharks, in what would become a 3-1 Boston victory.[4][5] All in all, in the 2017-18 season played Cehlárik 6 games with the Boston Bruins of the NHL and 35 regular season games and 3 play-off games with the Providence Bruins of the AHL.

In the 2018-19 season played Cehlárik 20 games with the Boston Bruins of the NHL and 53 regular season games and 4 play-off games with the Providence Bruins of the AHL.

Cehlárik continued with the Bruins organisation in the 2019-20 season. He played another 3 games with the Boston Bruins of the NHL and 48 games with the Providence Bruins of the AHL.

After Cehlárik was left off Boston's Return to Play roster, as an impending restricted free agent from the Bruins, Cehlárik halted his North American career and signed a two-year contract with the Leksands IF of the SHL, on August 17, 2020.[6]
