The Penn State Nittany Lions are a Men's Division I team and a Women's Division I team, both started in the 2012–13 season. The men will be independents for one season before the Big Ten begins sponsoring hockey in 2013–14. The women have joined College Hockey America.

Women's program[edit | edit source]

Josh Brandwene was the team's head coach from its start in 2012-13 until the end of the 2016-17 season.  Jeff Kampersal was named as his replacement  for the 2017-18 season.
