History[]
Pembroke, otherwise known as Hockey Town, is a town of about 14,000 people in the western Ottawa Valley in Ontario.
There have been several Lumber Kings teams in history. There was a junior team in the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's named the Pembroke Little Lumber Kings. In the 1960's with the folding of the senior Lumber Kings, the word "Little" was dropped from the junior team's moniker and they became the Lumber Kings.
The junior Lumber Kings presently play in the Central Junior Hockey League and are the first team in that league to win four straight championships (2006-07, 2007-09, 2008-09, 2009-10). See Pembroke Lumber Kings (CJHL).
There was a senior team from 1898 to 1935; and a senior team from 1946-61.
Senior team 1946-61[]
In 1945-46, 1947-48, & 1948-49 the Lumber Kings played in a two team Upper Ottawa Valley League with a team from Renfrew. Each year they played a league final against Renfrew.
They won the final in 1945-46 and 1948-49.
They lost the final in 1947-48.
