Pavel Pýcha (born on February 2, 1996 in České Budějovice) is a Czech ice hockey defenceman currently playing with the Motor České Budějovice of the Tipsport Extraliga.
Club career[]
Pýcha began his junior career with the HC České Budějovice organisation. In 2011, he moved to Austria to play with the RB Hockey Academy. In the 2013-14 season, he played with the RB Hockey Juniors of the MHL. In the 2014-15 season, he continued with the RB Hockey Juniors of the MHL where he played 51 games in this season and also played 1 regular season game and 7 play-off games with the EC Salzburg junior team of the EBYSL.
In the 2015-16 season, Pýcha continued with the RB Hockey Juniors and also made his senior debut playing one game with the ČEZ Motor České Budějovice (formerly HC České Budějovice) of the WSM Liga.
In the 2016-17 season, he played with the ČEZ Motor České Budějovice of the WSM Liga, won the WSM Liga title, but failed to gain promotion to the Tipsport Extraliga in the Tipsport Extraliga qualification.
In the next season, Pýcha played 46 regular season games and 5 play-off games with the ČEZ Motor České Budějovice of the WSM Liga and 3 games on loan with the HC Tábor of the 2. Liga.
He continued with the ČEZ Motor České Budějovice now playing in the Chance Liga (formerly WSM Liga). Since 2019-20 season, he is the captain of the team. In the 2019-20 season, the ČEZ Motor České Budějovice was formally promoted into the Tipsport Extraliga for the next season since the play-offs were not finished due to COVID-19 pandemic and the ČEZ Motor České Budějovice were dominant in the regular season. Pýcha being the best player in the Chance Liga's plus/minus with +41, registering most assists by defenceman (47) and most points by defenceman (60) was named the Chance Liga Best Defenceman and also won the Cena Tomáše Zelenky for the Chance Liga best player of the season.
In the 2020-21 season, Pýcha continues being the captain with the Motor České Budějovice of the Tipsport Extraliga.
