Oscar Fantenberg (born on October 7, 1991 in Ljungby) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing with the SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL.

Club career[]

Fantenberg began his junior career with the IF Troja-Ljungby organisation and he made his senior debut in the 2008-09 season playing with the IF Troja-Ljungby of the HockeyAllsvenskan.

In 2009, Fantenberg moved to the HV71 organisation. He played 36 regular season games and 2 play-off games with the HV71 junior team, 3 games with the HV71 of the Elitserien and 4 games on loan with the IK Oskarshamn of the HockeyAllsvenskan.

In the 2010-11 season, Fantenberg played 25 regular season games and 5 play-off games with the junior team of the HV71, 8 regular season games and 2 play-off games with the HV71 of the Elitserien and 8 games on loan with the IF Troja-Ljungby of the HockeyAllsvenskan.

The 2011-12 season was Fantenberg's last junior season. He played 9 games with the HV71 junior team, 37 games with the HV71 of the Elitserien and 13 games on loan with the IF Troja-Ljungby of the HockeyAllsvenskan.

Fantenberg continued with the HV71 of the Elitserien (later SHL) until the end of the 2013-14 season.

In 2014, Fantenberg signed with the Frölunda HC of the SHL and stayed there until 2016. In 2016, Fantenburg won with the Frölunda HC the SHL and the CHL.

In the 2016-17 season, Fantenberg played with the HK Sochi of the KHL.

In 2017, Fantenberg tried his luck in North America signing with the Los Angeles Kings. He played 27 regular season games and 4 play-off games with the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL and 25 regular season games and 4 play-off games with the Ontario Reign of the AHL.

He also began the 2018-19 season with the Kings playing there 46 games before being traded to the Calgary Flames. Then he played 15 regular season games and 3 play-off games with the Flames.

Fantenberg spent the 2019-20 season mostly with the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL where he played 36 regular season games and 16 play-off games. He also played 2 games with the Utica Comets of the AHL.

In 2020, Fantenberg signed a one-year contract with the SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL.

International career[]

Fantenburg played as a member of the Swedish National Team at the 2016 World Championship.
